Everyday life, made a little simpler.

We build small, thoughtful apps for the things people deal with every day. Each one starts with a real need and is shaped around the person using it.

How we work

People first. Features made to fit.

We would rather build one thing that genuinely helps than ten that look impressive. Every decision starts with the same question: does this make someone's day easier?

Start from real life

Every product starts in our own home. We wanted a clearer way to make our space feel comfortable to live in, so we built QiStar. Karen's shelf of skincare kept growing, so we built SEQUOR to bring order to it. If we would not use it ourselves, we do not build it.

Simple by default

Open it and it makes sense. We handle the complexity behind the scenes so what you see stays calm and clear.

Keep listening

Launch is only the beginning. We keep improving each product based on what the people using it tell us.

Products

Two apps today. More on the way.

Each product has its own home on the web. Here is where they start.

Feng shui

QiStar

Feng shui is the traditional Chinese practice of arranging a space so it feels balanced and comfortable to live in. QiStar is built mainly on the Flying Star school, with Eight Mansions alongside it, both drawn from the classical texts. It explains everything in plain words, so you always know what a reading means and why it matters.

  • Free for everyone, with no ads
  • Runs entirely on your device. We never collect or upload your data
  • Includes a Chinese lunar calendar and almanac for choosing good days

Beauty & skincare

SEQUOR

Sequor is Latin for “I follow”. SEQUOR helps you follow the right routine for the skincare on your shelf, based on published ingredient data instead of guesswork.

  • Reads the ingredients from a photo of your label, because the same product can differ between Korea, Japan and Europe
  • Checks every ingredient against official databases such as the EU's CosIng
  • Puts your products in the right order, so they work together instead of against each other
  • Tracks how your skin reacts, with progress photos that stay on your phone. We collect product data, never yours

Setting it up takes a little effort. After that, you stop guessing. Try each new product over a set trial period, note how your skin changes day by day, and look back to see exactly what made the difference.

Next idea in the workshop

We are always tinkering. New products will appear here first.

About us

Two people, two shiba inus, one workshop.

We keep noticing small frictions in everyday life, and we keep asking the same thing: could a good tool make this easier?

KMAKworks was started by Andrew and Karen. Andrew has spent many years in IT. Karen is a chartered surveyor. At home we are happiest with our hands busy, building DIY projects, tending the garden and cooking for friends.

Our products grow out of what we care about, and out of the same frustration. Andrew has long been interested in feng shui, and for years we had our home's feng shui read every year. When he tried asking AI assistants instead, each one gave a different answer. Skincare turned out the same way: ask two AIs how to order a routine and you can get opposite replies. A confident answer is not the same as a correct one. So we gather the published sources, organise them carefully and turn them into tools anyone can rely on. QiStar and SEQUOR are the first two. We build what we want to use, then share it with everyone else.
